Delta Billie’s Repowered Engine

Baydelta Maritime's entire fleet (with the exception of the Delta Teresa which is our diesel electric Hybrid vessel) has been fully repowered to meet California's Commercial Harbor Craft Regulation, one of the most stringent marine emissions standards in the country. Every vessel we operate now runs on Caterpillar 3516E Tier 4 Final engines, the cleanest diesel propulsion technology available for harbor craft today.

The Cat 3516E pairs an efficiency-optimized engine design with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment, cutting NOx and particulate emissions far beyond what older Tier 2 and Tier 3 engines could achieve. The result is a fleet that meets CARB's 2023–2032 compliance timeline years ahead of schedule, rather than waiting on the extensions many operators are relying on.

This wasn't a regulatory box to check. The major ports of California are where we live and work, and the air and water quality here matter to our crews, our clients, and the communities along the waterfront. Repowering the fleet was a significant investment, but it reflects our belief that responsible operation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand with reliable service.
